It’s that time again….
I felt in the mood for some Focus on the Family Movie Reviews.
I scanned through a bunch of the reviews, and have chosen a few choice tidbits for your amusement.
The Interpreter
(under Other Negative Elements)Depending on one€™s view of the United Nations, viewers may be galled by the positive PR the organization receives via drippy speeches extolling its noble purpose.
Because many nations cooperating to find peaceful resolutions to the world’s problems makes the Baby Jesus cry.
Must Love Dogs
(under Positive Elements)Sarah was apparently willing to work through any problems in her marriage. When her sister objects, €œBut you weren€™t happy,€ Sarah responds, €œThat€™s the life I€™d picked, so I€™d live with it.€
What could be more positive than that?
This unnecessary remake should have been called Badder News Bears.
Ten bucks says that’s exactly what the inevitable uncensored Director’s Cut DVD is going to be called.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
(under Spiritual Content)Seen living in their native Loompaland, the Oompa-Loompas bow down to and worship cacao beans.
F-ing heathens.
Even the new G-rated National Geographic documentary doesn’t escape unscathed:
The movie doesn’t credit our Creator with the masterpiece of nature known as the emperor penguin.
And last but not least, my personal favorite:
Hustle & Flow
(under Positive Elements)DJay’s relationship with the three women he pimps is very complex.
I just love that that sentence appears on a Focus on the Family page. That made my whole day.
I do have to admit that I was disappointed that there was no review of The Aristocrats. I imagine that they probably did send someone to the movie to review it, but his head exploded before he had a chance to write it.
