OPERATION BLAME BLANCO: UPDATE
I see that Governor Blanco is tired of being the White House’s designated scapegoat.
“Nearly a week after they were requested and with emergency systems taxed, the radio equipment and portable generators that Gov. Kathleen Blanco asked federal officials to supply have yet to arrive.
Those items were among several that Blanco requested Friday in a letter to President Bush to help out with Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts.
The governor asked for portable radios, equipment and tower crews to work on beefing up the communications grid that failed and kept rescue personnel, police and emergency workers from being able to talk to each other easily.
“The radio system that is currently operational in the greater New Orleans area was designed to support 800 users; there are currently 2,500 users. To address the radio communications requirements, we need additional frequencies,” Blanco said in her letter.
She also requested 175 generators to help local parishes and emergency staff who are struggling without power or with flooded generators and the diesel fuel supplies to run them.
Federal officials haven’t filled either request, according to state officials.”
I also appreciate and respect her restraint in not going after “Bush Donor” Ray Nagin, the guy who “crossed party lines (wink)” and endorsed her Republican opponent for Governor, Bobby Jindal, a couple of years ago.
BTW, whenever you refer to Mayor Nagin from now on, his new first name shuld be “Bush Donor.” Not that I am criticizing his performance, mind you.
I am just interested to see how the Bush supporters react when they are informed of the two Zell Miller like actions I noted above.

From one of your earlier posts:
“Consider Mayor Ray Nagin. He’s been successful at rooting out corruption in city government. 84 city employees were arrested because of his inititiatives. He ordered a voluntary evacuation two days before Katrina arrived and made it mandatory a day in advance, predicting the levees would break. He saved most of the 35,000 poor by sheltering them at the Superbowl, though the growing numbers of refugees quickly exceeded the capacity of the city to keep them fed and in good sanitation.”
And
“Nagin not only saved untold thousands but his escalating rants is what it took to get a response at the state and federal levels. The support base of those he rescued would rightfully prevent any effort to take him down.”
Quite the fawning description.
I was wondering when you folks would begin feeding on your own.

Nagin’s one of yours, GOP hack.
Like Zell Miller.

Hesiod,
As usual, a pleasure to hear from you.
Still unable to smile, huh. You should see a Doctor about that problem.
P.S. Nagin ran as a Democrat.

Yes, Nagin ran as a Democrat.
As did Zell Miller. In fact, Miller still claimed he was a Deocrat when he gave the keynote speech at the Republican convention last year, and went on a crazy, Freeper rant.
In fact, he still claims he’s a Democrat like the dishwasher at my local Denny’s claims he’s going to be Jessica Alba’s husband.

Hello Hesiod,
Truman and Kennedy both ran as Democrats. They would be Republicans today.

Nope.
RE: Truman, it’s not even a close call.
And I suspect JFK’s polirtics were a lo
