As I think about who Bush has awarded medals to - crooks and liars to a significant degree - I think it’s time we create a People’s Medal of Liberty. And award it to folks like Frankie Randolph and Ronnie Dugger of the Texas Observer, and to Bill Moyers and Seymour Hersh.
People like these who defended liberty and justice from political bullies from McCarthy to Dubya, when majority opinion favored the bullies.
Anyone have a design idea? It’s long overdue, a reward from the people, for those fighting for the preservation and growth of civil liberties.
