The GOP continues the felony coverup

Our long national nightmare is finally over:

Moving to tamp down Democratic calls for an investigation of the administration’s domestic eavesdropping program, Republicans on the Senate Intelligence Committee said Tuesday that they had reached a plea bargain agreement with the White House on proposed bills to impose new oversight but to allow wiretapping without warrants for up to 45 days, even though no need for the wiretaps has ever been defined.

“The president pulled 45 days out of his ass,” explained Senator Olympia Snowe, ” so we said ’sure.’ We figured it would take 45 days of repetitive explanations to make the president aware that he’ll have to make a decision again about who to kill, torture or rape next. I mean, it takes 40 days just to get him away from watching guys fishing on tv.”

Okay, yeah, I changed a few things in that version. But the verdict is in. The GOP Senators have:

- condoned the President’s lawbreaking.

- provided no explanation why the President even needed to bypass the FISA courts, previously or in the days ahead.

- decided to conspire to coverup the president’s felonies, making them accessories after the fact.
