From “Quadroparousia”
Neil Young is not the only Canadian whose latest album fans the flames of anti-Bush sentiments. “Quadroparousia” is a so-called “rock opera” by that notorious Québecois band, Le Qui. Sadly, it is totally derivative. For instance, they sing the lyrics below to the tune of Pete Townshend’s “The Punk Meets the Godfather” from “Quadrophenia”:
The Brain Berates God’s Finger
The Brain:
You believed you would bring us Armageddon
But that was just how that we sold you
Deep inside there was no destiny hidden
Too bad that nobody told you
Your man screwed up simple Babylon’s killing
Worse than our spin could mold you
Your bad polls left thirsty neocons chilling
Sadly missing the old you
God’s Finger:
I’m God’s reed that’s my creed
By my deed they will bleed
I’m the leader you need
I’m a man on assignment –
I’m the one that’s in charge
My ambitions are large
I will build from my will
A new world realignment
The Brain:
We said that questioning you would be treason
You really believed that we meant it
Grey tubes and yellow cake gave them a reason
They didn’t know that you bent it
You stood on deck as the coffins were flying
You used fear and you spent it
While the young soldiers were bleeding and dying
Their Bill of Rights — you rent it
God’s Finger:
I’ve a plan for Iran
By my hand any man
In that land will be flan
From a shell that busts bunkers
When at last I have passed
Cry “Alas” will the mass
And the Sheiks — hear their squeaks
From in hell with the Junkers
I talk with Jehovah ev’ry morn
I just ignore your words of scorn
It’s me the Angel of the Pit
Will use to fulfill Holy Writ
Soon silos will gape ‘neath the sky
And clouds like fungus will grow high
The End of Man’s not in your hand
Our bombs will blow at My command
