Joe knows the fat lady’s singing, and the party is so over him

A Hartford Courant reporter contributed this at Taegan Goddard’s: Lieberman’s expects to lose next week, will replace some staff with pitbulls and run an aggressive Indie campaign against Ned Lamont.

Which means the calm, confident air mentioned here is pure BS. “The unruffled ease that says of course I’m going to win” is the same display he provided in the presidential primaries, where he regularly came in twelfth in a nine-person field. Joe’s pretend-I’m- winning strategy fooled no one then. That he’s using it still is the same problem that no staff shake-up can change.

Joe thinks he can act. And voters think he’s only a best boy.

If Joe loses, any self-respecting Democratic operative would be out of there anyway. This is just a way to make it look like he’s taking charge rather than what would really be happening, the acceptance of the loss by Democratic supporters in the primary. In fact, I would suspect some of his supporters will throw in with the successful nominee. Just a face-saving move on his part.
