Terra-Less-Than-Firma

The Oogah-Boogah-Boogah Brigades are out in force today, warning about the impending doom of a ‘wave of beheadings’ by terrorists in Great Britain. The vigilant intelligence services intercepted that message from Al Qaida leaders to UK terrorist calls.

Last Fall.

I’ll gladly link to Larisa Alexandrovna’s explanation of the rest.

It’s said that liberals like me don’t take terrorists seriously. In fact, I do. But when Crayola alerts are raised repeatedly for seemingly political reasons - like when Team BushDick runs into major skepticism and noncompliance with its bungled, deception-laden war policies - and when the cries of ‘Wolf’ become so commonplace that they reek of improper-ganders, it gets hard to decide who exactly is doing the terrorizing.

Is it the guys whose actions advanced the killings of hundreds of thousands of perfectly innocent civilians - the majority under 16 years old - or is it that nutty bunch of Al Qaida extremists who have killed under 4,000 in the ten to sixteen years they’ve been issuing edicts and threats?

With both sides repeatedly exposed as bullies and liars, I’d suggest they’re the ones not being serious. And when a real, imminent threat gets announced, how can we trust who’s telling the truth?

Based on the record of the current governments on our Pennsylvania Avenue and Britain’s Downing Street, we can’t.

Replace both, and maybe we can get serious about ending the bigger threat of untruth.

  1. KMan Says:

Are you including all of the innocents slaughtered in Iraq in your count of 4,000? You do not seem to be.

  2. Kevin Hayden Says:

Document the ones that came from Al Qaida’s hands and I’ll include them. Which might be difficult, depending on the reliability of your source.

Which is more than fair, because, prior to Bush making that country a raging battlefield, their terror fatality count there was zero.

  3. Daniel Says:

Hey, Kev, I hear you’re taking a sabbatical. Just when America needs you most. Just when George is marching your country towards WW3 complete with nukes while the bulk of the American people dither around (forget I said that) and talk about impeachment as though it’s some kind of answer. Kev, is your timing a bit suspect or what?

Or do you, seeing the inevitability of what’s going to happen, intend heading for safer places, perhaps Australia or New Zealand or the South Pole?

If you do come to Australia, I’ll offer you a bed and a glass of red wine or two. Cheers!
