Who funds these abhorrent terror attacks?
When I read of new chlorine gas attacks in Iraq, I see the handprint of Saddam’s minions at work.
It’s a form of terrorism that targets civilians more than active fighters and deserves our greatest condemnations.
Yet, even more troubling, as Tom Englehardt points out, is the fact that groups doing this may be receiving direct or indirect aid from people in our own government.
This, above all, deserves Congressional scrutiny. If Hersh is correct, our government could be complicit in actions that constitute war crimes by any definition.
Are our leaders with us, against us, or both? If they fund groups and the end product is gas attacks, they deserve not just prosecution but the broadest array of punishments applied to other war criminals.
