The Education of Andrew Sullivan reaches fruition
Linking to Marty Lederman’s summation that I quoted last night, Sullivan comes full circle from being a one-time Iraq War and George Bush supporter to the conclusion that many reached years ago: Dubya is a war criminal. As are many of his subordinates.
All it will take to convince those who still doubt is to release the squelched video from Abu Ghraib that Bush is terrified to let us see, plus the still hidden torture memos.
When will the coverup of the war crimes end?
“The secret authorization of brutal interrogations is an outrageous betrayal of our core values, and a grave danger to our security. We must do whatever it takes to track down and capture or kill terrorists, but torture is not a part of the answer - it is a fundamental part of the problem with this administration’s approach. Torture is how you create enemies, not how you defeat them. Torture is how you get bad information, not good intelligence. Torture is how you set back America’s standing in the world, not how you strengthen it. It’s time to tell the world that America rejects torture without exception or equivocation. It’s time to stop telling the American people one thing in public while doing something else in the shadows. No more secret authorization of methods like simulated drowning. When I am president America will once again be the country that stands up to these deplorable tactics. When I am president we won’t work in secret to avoid honoring our laws and Constitution, we will be straight with the American people and true to our values,” said Obama.
I await the response from Republican and Democrats alike.

Of course they are war criminals.
And you know what? As bush goes out the door he will pardon EVERY one of them, I am talking about THOUSANDS of ‘blanket’ pardons. He will probably even pardon himself.
It’s one of the things no blog talks about. And then they will be SOOO surprised when it happens.
Think about it, and ask yourself this question;
How many pardons do YOU think Bush will give out in the last weeks of his administration?

If he doesn’t get impeached, he’ll pardon 6 lawyers, 2 AGs, the VP, a SecDef and 3 or 4 underlings. So 13 or 14, not counting outsiders. And he’ll let the CIA guys twist in the wind.

I disagree Kevin.
ALL CIA
ALL FBI
EVERYONE from the DOD and DOJ,
ALL State Department.
EVERY single person who works for a telecom (if congess does not do this for him)
He HAS to do this. It’s a family tradition–You reward loyalty with loyalty.
You watch, more pardons (by about X10) than any other POTUS in history.
Part of me hopes this happens. For one thing-it’s admitting crimes were commited (although his pathological inability to admit such is a notch in your favor), but another reason is maybe it will FINALLY burst the bubble on the fear of presidents to use the pardon power. If I was pres I would pardon 100,000 people as I went out the door. 3 million in prison and they don’t think 5% are ‘questionable’?
