Randi Rhodes hospitalized after being assaulted
Details are sketchy. She was walking her dog in a NYC park on Park Avenue on Sunday night. Robbery or sexual attack were not the motive. She lost some teeth. Two male assailants.
Well wishes can be sent here.
Lots of speculation about it being a political attack. I’m not going there till more details come in, except to say if it was, they will rue the day, as the country will definitely rise to condemn this.
We wish her a speedy recovery.

Holy crap! Did you see the comments thread? The conservanazis are all over it, telling progressives they were too quick to blame Reich wingnuts for this. Then they start with the insults about her looks. Methinks they doth protest too much.
And it’s awful funny how speculating that it might be a pea-brained follower of Stalkin’ Malkin is so unfair and premature - yet they have no problems with blasting innuendo about Edwards having an affair, or ‘phony sodliers’, or any of the gazillion and one faux scandals they’ve ginned up with no problem. And no facts to support their wild ass innuendo.
I wonder if their melons will explode when they find the Reich wingnut who did this…

I wish Randi a speedy recovery, too! What a horrible thing to happen. However, isn’t it a little premature to blame the wingnuts until her attackers are identified? While it’s plausible that she was attacked by a couple of Reich wing brownshirts who were trying to shut her up, AFAIK we don’t know for certain at this point who these thugs were or what their motive was (if they had one).

I work just a few blocks away from the crime scene and have lived in the neighborhood since I was a boy.
It’s a very well-heeled, well-to-do neighborhood, and most likely, this was an attempted mugging (no, she wasn’t dressed to the nines or wearing jewelry, but she was walking a dog in a fairly wealthy area…you can do the math) as opposed to a hate crime.
She probably fought back or mouthed off, knowing Randi.

when you mug somebody in order to steal jewelry or a wallet or whatever, you don’t punch in the face. you threaten, maybe show a weapon. or you grab from behind. punching in the face is trying to send somebody a message, usually. but what do i know, when i got mugged i was hit with a baseball bat from behind. and they didn’t want to send a message, they just wanted me dead.
i don’t need to know who did it or why to hate this stuff. you don’t have to be left wing, right wing, or any wing to hate violent crime. and two on one in the dark - yeah, very brave. somebody has to live with having a very small soul. my best wishes to randi - she’s a hero and a survivor and she’ll probably have plenty to say on the air about this. i wonder if the assailants were wearing masks, or were identifiable in any way.

Rumor has it she was out drinking. Maybe a little too much, I shouldn’t be a judge on drinking too much. She was walking home, lost her balance and feel face first to the ground, because of the alcohol she wasn’t able to stop her fall with her hands.

Well, it’s a looong way between Grand Central and the Empire State Building, people. Better know exactly where it happened. And — you know, people walk home after going to a bar all the time in NYC. Better than driving. And not very many of them get mugged.
But, see, NY muggers don’t punch women in the mouth. They don’t need to. Muggers are robbers, and robbers just rob.
So, she wasn’t robbed, she was assaulted. But not for sex. Not for hate.
(Well boys and girls, lemme tellya — felons in NY actually don’t do that. Particularly not in pairs.
Two guys came along and beat her up. That’s just not a New York thing.
Which leaves her having been Malkin-ed.
