Senate Dems sandbagged by six of their own
Now we see the behind-the-scenes sausage-making that went into the telecom illegal wiretapping immunity bill. This was a setup by Rockefeller from way back in June, while telecom dollars flowed to his campaign.
So now we know where antiwar Republican Hagel stands as well as so-called moderate Snowe. Can it be that even Sheldon Whitehouse, a liberal from the most liberal state in the nation - who’s also a prosecutor - believes that major corporations can rob us of the Fourth Amendment and remain above the law? (It’s not clear, but on a 12-3 vote, one committee member was missing)/
Here’s the List of Crook Enablers:
Democrats
John D. Rockefeller IV, West Virginia
Dianne Feinstein, California
Evan Bayh, Indiana
Barbara A. Mikulski, Maryland
Bill Nelson, Florida
Sheldon Whitehouse, Rhode Island
Republicans
Christopher S. Bond, Missouri
John Warner, Virginia
Saxby Chambliss, Georgia
Orrin Hatch, Utah
Richard Burr, North Carolina
Olympia J. Snowe, Maine
Chuck Hagel, Nebraska
That makes Ron Wyden of Oregon and Russell D. Feingold of Wisconsin the only two of eight Democrats who think the law applies to all and lived up to their oath to defend the Constitution. The others seem to think the Bill of Rights is only a suggestion.

Whitehouse was the only surprise to me here. The rest are a bunch of Dino’s, corporate shills and/or investors in the telecoms.
My only hope is that the House will prevent the immunity from becoming law. But with Madame Speaker, the hope is slight.
From Wikipedia: “The Pelosi family has a net worth of over US$25 million, primarily from Paul Pelosi’s investments. In addition to their large portfolio of jointly owned San Francisco Bay Area real estate, he also has millions of dollars in stock from publicly traded companies such as Microsoft, Amazon.com and AT&T.”
