Fire reigns in Southern California while a very vile creature fans the flames of hate
Needless to say, Glenn Beck’s designation of people who’ve had their homes immolated by wildfires as ‘America haters’, is an example of viciousness that shocks most people, left, right or middle. It’s also an example of how badly he misses his intended targets, as some of the regions badly hit are predominantly populated by conservatives.
just because I disagree with you doesn’t mean you hate America, and I love America. We all love America. We just disagree on how we should function, what we should do, big government, small government. It doesn’t mean you hate America. I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today.
Already more than a quarter million have been evacuated and hundreds of homes have burned. To get a concept of how many fires are raging, go to this map and click the minus symbol (-) twice.
TBogg’s not far from the action in San Diego County and has reported on family and friends who’ve lost homes or have been evacuated. Shayera of Calitics has been posting timely updates with more frequency than the national news networks. Her latest, at 8:13 Pacific time indicates the Guvnor has added 2300 inmates to the firefighting forces. Could this be necessitated by a shortage of National Guard troops busy elsewhere in the world at the behest of another America hater (Beck’s definition, not mine)?
RacerX, over at Steve Benen’s blog, offers the perfect approach to douse the wind-aided hate speech of Beck.
Update: Bruce Henderson’s descriptions, maps and exceptional photographs add a lot more perspective as well.
