The view from the front lines in Iraq: Bleak

I wish every Senator and every Rep would read this report from troops at the front of the sectarian divide. I wish every American would, too.

It’s pretty disheartening, and it’s clear to me that the Shia dominated government is either too weak or corrupt to change it. And our troops don’t deserve to die for nothing.

And even though we want them home, I want to remind folks the holidays are near. So please consider sending a package to the troops via AnySoldier.com. They deserve whatever we can do to ease their discomforts. If you send it this week, it could help make their Thanksgiving a little better.

Update: Iraq’s leading cleric is calling for action to stop Shia on Shia violence in Southern Iraq as al_Sadr questions whether there’s any value to his truces with others. With the north getting volatile between the PKK and Turkish troops, Baghdad sectioning continuing, losing control in the South could mean an escalation of violence everywhere.

How many troops have to die before the White House faces reality and brings them home?
