Bully pulpit’s bully needs hammering NOW

I recall the image of John Kerry waiting too long to fire back at a bunch of swiftboat weasels. So why is it, when it’s clear that Bush has begun a daily offensive to talk down to Congress insultingly and condescendingly, that Congressional leaders are not refuting him daily?

I’m not talking about different spokespeople. I mean there should be two faces - one a Senator and one a Representative - getting up and hitting back just as hard. Jim Webb would be a good choice for the Senator. Janice Schakowsky or Marcy Kaptur would be perfect from the House. Let them be seen and heard EVERY SINGLE DAY that Bush attacks.

Bush is trying to project the image that Congress is weak and vacillating. Remind the country that Democrats are perfectly serious about Al Qaida and any other potential threats to the nation. Don’t let Bush frame the narrative. Remind the nation that in the war against fundamentalist terror, Bush has a record of fundamental error.

Otherwise, he’s going to paint an ugly picture featuring cowardly lions.
