Americans say ‘No’ to the waterboarding torture
A CNN poll released today:
Asked whether they think waterboarding is a form of torture, more than two-thirds of respondents, or 69 percent, said yes; 29 percent said no.
Asked whether they think the U.S. government should be allowed to use the procedure to try to get information from suspected terrorists, 58 percent said no; 40 percent said yes.
So that means 29% don’t have a clear idea how torturous waterboarding is, and that 11% think torturing suspected terrorists is okay.
I wonder how many remember that Nick Berg and a couple of non-Americans were beheaded in Iraq specifically as a response to the Abu Ghraib tortures. Is this what they want for all captured US troops in this conflict and any future one anywhere in the world?
