Card players show more backbone than Congress
Muhammed Ali knew there’d be risks. So did the track stars giving a Black Power salute at the Mexico City Olympics. That’s why I hope these bridge players stick by their guns despite retribution.

Protests always entail risks. You either take what comes or don’t make the bid. That’s the way the game of democracy is played. Over the course of life, standing on principle has always yielded the fewest regrets. I applaud these women for showing there’s a better side to America. (And I’m sure they’ll find good Americans willing to offset any economic difficulties that result.)
Principled leadership: either you have it or you’re a Republican (or wearing Republican clothes).
Update: Jon Swift has more on the Bridge ladies.

Dixie Chicks redux. Who says Bush hasn’t made a difference in office? Woe unto us.
