Assassination: Benazir Bhutto dead
She was 54, dying in the second suicide bomb assassination attempt she faced since her return to Pakistan just two months ago. Shot, then bombed.
Though she was seen as a hero by Westerners, in Pakistan, her legacy had been one that was way less than stellar.
Presumably the attack came from religious extremists. It leaves one principal challenger to Musharraf and the thought crossed my mind what I’d tell him: it sure sucks to be you. If he survives till election day, there are fears the vote will be rigged to assure Perv wins.

My viewpoint is more in line with yours. Many people in the lefty blogosphere have proposed that the current American administration had some complicit hand in the matter, and while I certainly understand where that line of thinking stems from, I don’t share it.
It doesn’t make any practical sense to me that anyone other religious extremists trying to advance their philosophy in a most utterly chaotic and irresponsible manner, one that flies against all logic and stands an excellent chance of backfiring, would pull such a stunt.
