Let’s get back to reality, Barack
The final paragraph bothered me, too, from The Caucus interview with Obama:
He also disputed the notion that his trip was a vacation, given that it lasted two-and-a-half days. “It’s a long weekend that most Americans get about 50 times a year,” he said. (Editorial comment: Really? Please take note, Times editors!)
Let’s see. New Year’s weekend, MLK Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. That’s just eight weekends longer than two days. Some Americans may get another holiday or two and a personal day or two that they tie to a weekend. So a eight to twelve times, for most, which is far from 50.
And most don’t fly off to an island resort. Some, like me, haven’t had an actual travel-someplace vacation longer than 4 days, in more than twenty years. (Why? The employers provide the earned vacation days, but really can’t cover too much consecutive time off, so my job would be jeopardized if I insisted on taking it.)
I know it’s not a major point, but I still think it’s a careless comment to make. Enjoy your time off, Senator, and don’t complain about it.

Yet more evidence that Obama has some deep seated psychological problem that leads to serial exaggeration /snark
