John McCain Tells Himself to Eat Cake
Recently, Republican presidential candidate, John McCain delivered a speech concerning the current mortgage crisis. According to the Mortgage Bankers Association, at the end of 2007, 2.04% of residential mortgages were in foreclosure.
McCain offered no new proposals to help homeowners facing foreclosure, but said:
We should also convene a meeting of the nation’s top mortgage lenders. Working together, they should pledge to provide maximum support and help to their cash-strapped, but credit worthy customers. They should pledge to do everything possible to keep families in their homes and businesses growing. Recall that immediately after September 11, 2001 General Motors stepped in to provide 0 percent financing as part of keeping the economy growing. We need a similar response by the mortgage lenders. They’ve been asking the government to help them out. I’m now calling upon them to help their customers, and their nation out. It’s time to help American families.
In a stunning irony, it was announced today in The Arizona Republic that the McCain residence in Phoenix has been foreclosed upon. There was no official comment from the McCain campaign, but an insider said that the senator screamed profanities when he learned that his possessions were being removed from the dwelling, especially his barbecue, while his wife, Cindy, only muttered under her breath, “My stash, my stash!”

2%!!!!!! And, this is just the beginning!!!!!!
From the linked article:
I would just LOVE to see McBush living in the streets - the streets of Baghdad, which he said are so pleasant for shopping this time of year (with appropriate gear, Apache helicopters, and body guards, of course). I don’t have the link, but I read that those same streets he praised in the past were too dangerous for his most recent trip to Iraq (even with appropriate gear, Apache helicopters, and body guards, of course).
