Yes, she can.

But McCain will wait to see who the Dem nominee is first. If it’s Obama, he’ll have most of the South secured, so a VP from Ohio, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Virginia, New Jersey or Florida is far more likely as he seeks the most potential electoral votes.

If Clinton pulls off a superdelegate upset, McCain is more likely to go with a Southernor to anchor the Southern swing states Hillary can appeal to, like Arkansas, Tennessee and Florida. In that case, huckabee and Mel Martinez have greater potential than the subprime Condo-leeza Rice.
