Carter, Gore are not stupid

It’s conceivable they could endorse Obama in an effort to sway supers, but neither would consent to ‘bell the cat’ for two simple reasons:

1) It would be viewed as patronizing and insulting, and

2) Clinton has every right to make her case as a longshot until the math reaches the sillysphere. And she’s astute enough to bow out when her position is truly untenable. She is, after all, more pragmatic than some of her worst detractors recognize.

Both Carter and Gore have sufficient wisdom to sidestep a role that could cause hardening of the current polarity. And within the next 3 to 5 weeks, the odds are very high that the math will prove sufficient to convince Clinton, without any unwarranted party paternalism being injected into the mix.

I suspect the Scotsman reporter was fed a trial balloon that has no helium. And if you recall, both Carter and Gore are on current missions of greater importance that they wouldn’t want endangered by taking on any fresh controversy.
