George is Wrong

Via Greg Sargent at TPM:

Asked whether his background as a political operative had resulted in too much of a focus on electability and on the candidates’ handling of media “scandals,” Stephanopoulos said:

“You can’t help but be shaped by your experience,” but he added: “I don’t think it’s unique to me. This is a conversation that Democrats and some Republicans are having every single day. It’s not only, who will be the best president, but who has the best chance of winning.”

Wrong. eighty percent of the states have already weighed in to express their opinion. And the race has gone on so long precisely because so many consider both to be electable. There are far fewer Republicans in the country, there’s historical parallels that can be drawn when so many voters are dissatisfied, especially amid a recession. The question really is “Is McCain or any Republican electable?”

Who has the best chance of winning? A rock, if it’s running on the Democratic ticket.

I’m a Democrat, and I want to know:

1) What will you do to boost the economy?

2) What will you do to stimulate wage growth, at least till it matches inflation?

3) Do you plan to pass specific directives to roll back the precedents of executive power grabs so the Constitutional checks and balances regain their effectiveness?

4) What information can be gained from detainees without torture that was allegedly gained from torture that Bush approved?

5) Should CEOs and other executives of companies like Countrywide face personal penalties for the damages they inflict on millions of Americans? Or did that possibility expire with Kenneth Lay?

Stephanopoulos, you performed better than ‘boxers or briefs?’ but barely above the belt is still far from above the neck.
