Reverend Wright refutes the critics
Says his words were twisted to damage Obama, though Obama bears no responsibility for his words.
Of course, the main words that offended people was him saying God damns America, something that Falwell, Robertson and Hagee have said, though a bit more artfully for white ears.
But here’s how some of his words out of context were utilized: he was referring to a US Ambassador’s use of the phrase about America’s chickens coming home to roost. Which was an indictment of government policy, not Americans.

It just seems pretty dumb to try and tar Obama with a couple of controversial things his minister sermonized about when he wasn’t present. I mean, consider how tight George Bush has been with people who behead, and John McCain has some pretty odd connections, too. Like this dickweed Helly roller.
In Obama, you have a man happily married to his wife, a loving family, no ties to the deadly leaders of the world (even the Sunday Parade insert listed the Saudi kingdom as the 4th worst dictatorship in the world), who was a bit teenagerish as a teenager, but buckled down and advanced himself, without going for the big corporate dough after law school.
He’s come into contact with people who had shady pasts and, like all politicians in Chicago, social contacts with shady movers and shakers. But Republican prosecutors have found nothing that makes them conclude that Obama’s done any dirty business at all. The granny who did his adolescent upbringing worked her way up to be a bank VP, hardly a place where extremism is tolerated or taught. He didn’t quit drinking at 40, he has no reported anger problems, nor infidelity issues, and I’d have no objection to sending my daughters to play with his, if there ages were close.
So why do Republicans run this crap? Because…. they got nothing. Obama’s simply not a crook or radical or danger to anyone. Except his wife, who said he sometimes has stinky feet.
