Biggest news of the night
It’s a mild surprise that John Edwards is getting about 7% of the WV vote and no surprise that Clinton’s winning by 39% so far, with 72% of the vote counted. But the HUGE news is the Democrat, Travis Childers, winning a VERY Republican 1st District race in Mississippi.
The district has been voting 59% and higher for GOP candidates and Presidents for the past 24 years. Childers’ opponent tried repetitive ads tying Childers to Obama and his former Reverend Wright and Mississippi voters responded today with an upset that puts the GOP on notice that politics as usual is only going to gain them pink slips.
The thrill is gone for good old boyism, even in the once safest districts. Give a test ride to the Official New American Voter Meme of 2008 by repeating after me….
