McCain’s so wrong on Iraq yet he challenges Obama

I recall McCain claiming things were safe in a marketplace he visited in Baghdad while surrounded by a garrison of heavily armed troops. His pronouncements after that Iraq visit left the permanent impression that his judgment about Iraq is seriously flawed. Yet he now claims his visits there give him greater insight to the current situation than Obama has.

I’ve anticipated that Obama would visit Iraq after Congress takes its summer recess. And I think it’d still be a good move on his part, so his judgment gets past the testimony of General Blather and weighs the assessments of numerous troops and Iraqi officials, not just those selected by Bush. In the meantime, he should simply respond with this article and video, with a statement that Senator Obama is more than willing to trust his own judgment about the conditions in Iraq, which can provide a full picture better than the one McCain was selling in April 2007.

Obama surrounded by heavily-armed men loyal to George W. Bush, beyond the reach of US law? Maybe not. Not until he’s officially declared Commander-In-Chief, and killing him would be undeniable treason under any circumstances. Even then . . .
