Goodbye Mr. Carlin; I’m pissed

Possibly the best raw comedian of the last half century, challenging conventional wisdom, pushing the edges, I recall George when he played ‘Al, the hippy-dippy weatherman’. Now we’ve lost him.

.

.

Now what the fuck are we supposed to do, George? I hope your family does something entertaining because this routine sucks.

And JESUS GOD BUDDHA SHIVA LAO-TSE YAHWEH JEHOVAH !!!! Those are the seven deities no-one can invoke at your funeral, you bastard.

Encore.
.

.

.

There are numerous memories and anecdotes being published about him today. But you can save yourself a lot of your precious time, avoid all the maudlin, repetitive and/or boring shit because I’ve selected a few that captured him as I heard him. And you gotta trust my taste because I’m fucking good at this shit. Don’t believe me? Fine, it’s your time, pal that you could put to better use rubbing up against someone in the subway.

I even put them in a nice order, all nice and neat. So click the links in order, or it’ll fuck it up royally and you’ll miss the point of order.

Kyle Moore.

I was flabbergasted (as opposed to my usual gastedness) to find that Mark Daniels chooses to defend religion against Carlin’s barbs. Today, when Carlin’s dead and can’t hear him! (If a bee drones in the forest and no-one’s there to hear it, will God smack ‘im with a flyswatter?)

Roy Edroso, clever as always, catches a few more half-hearted farewells.

Even Carlin would have enjoyed this epitaph, because nothing gave him greater joy than knowing he annoyed another nitwit.

The Nation (and Jill, who follows) captures him perfectly.

From Jill at Brilliant for Breakfast.

Rachel Sklar’s interview with Carlin last March.

And if you’re feeling nostalgic, General J.C. Christian’s providing hours of his material on an endless loop today.
