The McCain Health Care Privitization Nightmare

Krugman notes that Social Security wasn’t the only thing that McCain was going to “fix” by throwing the whole system into Wall Street’s prudent hands.

Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.
~McCain (pdf)

So what was that again about everything being Obama’s fault?

I’m not so clear on how that all works either.  If we make health care more affordable and available to us peons, just how do the bankers short-sell our treatment protocols on the derivative market?  Can you still leverage a hostile take-over of my kidney transplant?

High finance can be so confusing.
