Dumping Joe is not Obama’s job; it belongs to Senators with a spine
Dodd’s right that Obama should be out of the loop on the fate of Lieberman. But he’s wrong to provide cover for Lieberman to stay.
Clearly his goal is to avoid the defection of Lieberman to the GOP. But despite his voting record on social issues, Joe’s already deserted the Dems on foreign policy and other issues. The question isn’t whether we should dump Joe but whether to invite more punishment from a Tory.
Homelan Security deserves leadership that covers our backs instead of plunging knives in them.
Let the Senate leadership handle its internal problems, Senator Dodd. Connecticut won’t receive any punishment from another chair of that committee. No Senator’s that indispensable, though Lieberman thinks he’s above cause and effect. If he’s not held accountable for outright betrayal, then Dodd and the rest of the Democratic Senate should just roll over and turn their gonads in right now.
