“So What?” I’ll Tell You What!
Catch this sociopathic classic from the C+ Augustus when it was pointed out to him that Al Quaeda didn’t decide to “take their stand” in Iraq until after we invaded.
Bush: Clearly, one of the most important parts of my job because of 9/11 was to defend the security of the American people. There have been no attacks since I have been president, since 9/11. One of the major theaters against al Qaeda turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al Qaeda said they were going to take their stand. This is where al Qaeda was hoping to take …
Raddatz: But not until after the U.S. invaded.
Ready for the completely “out of step” retort? (Bad pun totally intended.)
Bush: Yeah, that’s right. So what?
Yeah, there’s more, and no doubt your wingnut friends will say you need to read/see the whole train wreck in context. In context, Bush just tries his old filibuster intimidation tactic he’s used so many times when he tries to run out the clock with memorized talking points.
As far as I’m concerned, it is what it is. The post hoc rationalization continues as if hundreds of thousands of people didn’t die at Bush’s hand. He’s not responsible, stuff happens, whatever, who cares.
I wonder in the inner place where my dreams become pink bunnies and pony rides if that’s how Bush will answer the charges against him at The Hague. “So What?”
Wow. Just, wow.

So no American troops were killed by AQ in Iraq? How self-contradictory.
No Spaniards died in the Madrid bombing? Oh yeah, I forgot, to Bush, only Americans are people. All others are expendable.
Meanwhile, we’ll hear how torture saved lives, with zero evidence (if his hand had aces, he’d certainly show them). And how many terror plots were broken up, all those fantasy terrorists less capable than Richard Reid.
More non-military Americans died under Bush due to enemy attacks, than under any prez in US history. More Americans died due to nature-spawned emergency than has occurred under any president in 3/4s of a century. Most money spent? Check. Most debt accumulated? Check. Most US troops lost than the previous five presidents combined? Check. Second worst economy in US history? You betcha.
He’s not kept us safe from George W. Bush, the worst threat we’ve survived since World War II. Assuming we can survive the next 34 days.
Knock on wood.

I wonder how the clueless clown would react if somebody said “So what?” to him when he trotted this lie out?

Do you really think that Paraguay will extradite him?

[…] AmeriStreet says, “So what? I’ll tell you what!“ Rick Perlstein says, Bush’s legacy? Bush’s legacy? “History will treat me well,” Winston Churchill, at the nadir of his public reputation, is said to have once confidently proclaimed. “How do you know?” his interlocutor came back. “Because,” Churchill concluded, “I intend to write it.” […]
