Myths and Legends

It was only yesterday that intrepid Ohio Streeter Mark Adams showed all and sundry a link to the fabled lost city of Atlantis, and sent the Funny Farm Utility Research Kitchen into action. You see, the legends about Atlantis from where we come from usually mention a lost continent of Atlantis, not a city*.

And the picture that was pointed out from Google Earth in the article that Mark linked to is really easy to find and create yourself:

Now look what you've started!

But, something looked a bit odd to me when I took a bit more of a look at the surrounding environs:

(The first picture in this post, just above, is a magnification of the lower left-hand area of the next picture below)

It kinda looks to me like there’s quite a bit more of the same type of pattern (albeit not quite so clearly defined) as the one that was pointed out in the original article in the surrounding area.

Here’s some closer looks at some of the zones in that picture:

Sorry to have to add to the tinfoil conspiracy even more, but if you’re going to say that the pattern in the first picture indicates a possible location for Atlantis, then I would humbly submit that the pictures I snarfed to show you here indicate a much larger possible Atlantean civilization than just the detail of the western side of the continent.

And, of course, I’d like to stake claim to tons of slightly underelevated beach front property and expand the horizons of the Funny Farm beyond it’s tawdry struggle to remain a going concern through the aftermath of the Putsch cabal. Maybe those guys who found the Titanic could trundle their gear off in this general direction and see if there’s anything worth finding in these waters…

What do you think?

* - for what it’s worth, Wikipedia says that the usual legend is of a lost island and a lost civilization. So I guess both the lost city of Atlantis and the lost continent of Atlantis are mangled versions of the legend, as the eons-long game oftelephone that is human history…
